Who is Yvonne Stocks DL…?

Born in the United Kingdom in the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire to Jamaican parents. Yvonne is a proud British Citizen who also acknowledges and is proud of her Jamaican heritage.

Yvonne has a 1st Class BSc degree with honors gained at the University of Huddersfield and 24 years of direct experience addressing the inequalities and safeguarding needs of vulnerable men, women and children.

In 2007 Yvonne with her husband and partner Gerard Stocks, founded Palm Cove Society www.palmcovesociety.com.  

Yvonne, seconded in 2015 as Special Advisor to the 1st Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, worked with the Commissioner around the UK raising the profile of modern slavery and the Modern Slavery Act (2015) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/30/contents.

April 2016, Yvonne was invited by the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA to their conference Ending Human Trafficking by 2030 along with international law enforcement agents and organizations founded by Pope Francis to strengthen and coordinate the global response to Modern Slavery. In 2017 Yvonne was invited and attended the follow up conference.

January 2017, Yvonne was awarded a High Sheriffs Award for outstanding work during a high-profile prosecution.

July 2018, Yvonne was awarded the Assistant Commissioners Commendation for outstanding commitment to victim care and support.

Commissioned in August 2023 by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Yvonne was honored and proud to accept the role of Deputy Lieutenant (DL).

Keen to remain focused on addressing social and health care need, entrepreneurial inequalities, and the safeguarding requirements of vulnerable citizens throughout the UK and beyond led to the concept of the ‘Yvonne Stocks Foundation.’
